Afternoon Light (5"x 7")
Description: Painted en plein air in the Flinders Ranges, this small impressionistic work captures the golden afternoon light grazing the edge of an ancient gum tree, leaving most of its massive trunk and branches in cool shadow. Behind it, the Wilpena Pound escarpment rises softly, rendered in the muted desert hues of the outback. A quiet study of light and atmosphere, it’s part of the artist’s intimate series of Cazneaux Trees.
