Description: Painted en plein air near the iconic Cazneaux Tree in the Flinders Ranges, this impressionistic study captures a rugged outback gum with a hollow at its base. Discovering a collection of large marsupial bones nearby gave the work its name and added a quiet sense of drama. Painterly and immediate, Dog Tree carries the energy of the moment, part of the artist’s intimate series of Cazneaux Tree studies.
