‘In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.’ is a quote attributed to Andy Warhol although he didn’t really say it himself. In 1968, Andy had an exhibition at Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Sweden. The director of the gallery, Pontus Hultén, suggested this quote be included in the exhibition programme along with actual writings by Andy. When questioned why, he replied, “if he didn’t say it, he could very well have said it. Let’s put it in.”

This is an Alla Prima oil painting of a humble can of Campbell’s soup on a white background. The paintings name refers to a quote attributed to Andy Warhol- ‘In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.’ This was in 1968. Today I live in that future with social media etc making the quote a reality. If I were to make a similar quote I would say – ‘In the near future, everyone will be filmed 24/7. Famous or not.’
